“A ‘Super Stimuli’ is an artificial trigger created with the purpose of provoking an exaggerated response. Super Stimuli are bigger, bolder, more obvious than their natural counterparts.” We have charged different designers with reinterpreting an area of the Ace Hotel London Shoreditch. As you journey around these public spaces you will come across a series of interventions by some of London’s best designers. Each is a response to the existing functions of this busy East London hotel, an exaggeration, a reworking or rethinking of what is already here; an artificial stimulus. Each designer has produced an installation that is suitably reflective of their work. All of the installations feature new and original objects and deal with themes and topics that are of current interest at Modern Design Review. The exhibition is a true collaboration of purpose, ideas and motivation between the designer, Modern Design Review and Ace Hotel. London is a city full of exciting, extraordinary design talent and we would like to thank some of its most brilliant for coming out for Super Stimuli: Fabien Cappello, Martino Gamper, Michael Marriott and Bethan Laura Wood, plus our Mix Tape Project participants.
